Jose Espina, AS‘s head reporter for the Andalusia region, has an update on Monchi’s situation.
There’s set to be another meeting of Sevilla’s board starting very soon, and during the chat the future of the transfer guru will very much be on the agenda. The plan is to make a decision as quickly as this evening.
AS report it’s a ‘matter of time’ until Monchi is at Aston Villa. They say he wants to go ‘sí o sí’ (‘yes or yes’), a phrase used in Spain when someone won’t take no for an answer.
Aston Villa are described as being convinced about hiring the Spaniard, and it’s now a case of ‘adjusting the operation so that all parties are satisfied’.
The Premier League club are said to be willing to pay part of Monchi’s release clause, which fits in with earlier claims they’d offered around €2m. Now it’s a case of finding a compromise so the switch can happen.
AS also say wages are being arranged for Monchi’s move to Aston Villa. It would be no surprise if this all accelerates in the next few hours and there’s some kind of announcement from Sevilla.
