Valencia have rejected Liverpool’s opening bid for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
AS report that Los Ches owner Peter Lim wants €40m for the star and isn’t willing to lower the price.
At this moment in time, Liverpool haven’t come close to this figure. The report says they will have to raise their bid if they want to sign the 23-year-old.
At the weekend, the stopper played the 90 minutes in his side’s league defeat to Barcelona. This shows his loyalty is still with the La Liga side despite the advanced negotiations with the Reds.
That’s according to Superdeporte, who say the Georgia international ‘won’t force a move’ to Liverpool. Valencia are having financial difficulties, but that won’t force them to sell him for less than €40m.
Earlier claims had stated Arne Slot’s side are close to agreeing a deal with Valencia, but that isn’t the case right now. It’s claimed the deal is ‘on standby’ because Liverpool haven’t yet made a €40m bid.
Although the player won’t force a move, he remains keen to join the Reds. Mamardashvili is waiting for the two clubs to find an agreement. There’s belief the Premier League side will return with an improved bid.
Superdeporte say it’s only a ‘matter of time’ before Liverpool raise their offer, to close the deal for the Georgian. If that happens, they will send Mamardashvili elsewhere first, likely to AFC Bournemouth.
