Last year, Celtic let Luis Palma join Lech Poznań on loan with an option to buy. Martin O’Neill’s side are in favour of his permanent exit from Celtic Park in the summer.
The winger scored 11 goals and contributed 10 assists from 41 matches for the Polish club, who retained the title this season.
Lech Poznań have agreed a €4m purchase clause with Celtic, but they won’t trigger this clause.
Earlier this year, the Celtic owned player expressed his desire to join them permanently.
At that time, he said: “I hope to stay at Lech for a long time, but it’s not just my decision. I’m doing my thing day by day, and I’m very happy about it. I’m sticking to that and I hope to stay at this great club, although not everything depends on me.”
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered claims from Poland and Honduras about Celtic softening their stance.
O’Neill’s side have lowered the price from €4m to €3m. The Ekstraklasa winners, on the other hand, made two offers of €1.5m and €2.3m, and Celtic rejected both bids.
Lech Poznań’s decision on Celtic man awaited
The Polish club have kept the door open to make the Honduras international’s stay permanent.
In February, Lech Poznań spokesman Adrian Gałuszka said his side are “absolutely open’ to retaining the Celtic owned player.
Fast forward to May and he has now given another interview to Meczyki to discuss Luis Palma’s future.
“It’s no secret that Luis has felt comfortable in Poznań throughout this season. He was able to perform, be effective, give important numbers, and contributed to several important results for the team,” he said.
“We have to wait for the final decisions. We knew from the beginning that they would come after the season. I suspect it will be a matter of the next few days.”
Permanent Celtic exit beneficial
The 26-year-old is unlikely to have any future at Celtic Park, where he has a contract until 2028.
With Martin O’Neill’s side reportedly looking to sell for €3m, Luis Palma’s permanent move to Lech Poznań can be beneficial for all three parties.
