Chelsea are on the right track to sign Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson in the summer window, according to Monday’s AS.
The striker scored 13 goals and registered five assists from 38 games last season, with the majority of those goals scored this year, after his January move to AFC Bournemouth collapsed. His form has convinced the Blues to launch an offensive to secure his services.
Jackson has a €35m release clause and AS say Chelsea have agreed to pay this figure.
At the moment, all that’s left for the west London club is to find an agreement with the 21-year-old and the report states this should be sorted out in ‘matter of hours’.
The newspaper states the plan for the Senegal international is to travel to London ‘this week’ to undergo medical tests with the Premier League side and then sign a contract for five or six years.
This would only be possible when the player agrees personal with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
This seems to have already been sorted out if Sport’s report from the weekend is to be believed.
With all parties in favour of a transfer, Jackson’s move to Stamford Bridge should go through, barring any last-minute surprises.
