Brazilian midfielder Matheus Marcosi is back to the AON Training Complex to have one more trial period at Manchester United.
The 16-year-old has been visiting the facilities since 2014, when he still belonged to Desportivo Brasil. The club is owned by football agents and has a partnership to exchange youngsters with Manchester United.
But Sport Witness can confirm that Marcosi left Desportivo Brasil a few months ago and signed for Ituano, another small club, which is managed by the former Middlesbrough player Juninho Paulista.
Marcosi joined Ituano at the end of July, having signed a contract which runs until December 2017. He still hasn’t made any official U17 appearances for the club so far.
The midfielder arrived in England on Monday, and just like in the other trials, he didn’t expect much fuss about his arrival.
But the youngster was then shocked when made aware his name was widely being covered in the English media. His intention was not to talk with papers, as he believes that striving for publicity is not good for him at this stage of his career, especially when so many of the articles hyped up the situation and were vastly inaccurate.
Should the club choose that they’d like to sign the player at some point in the future, and there’s absolutely no suggestion of that yet, Marcosi can’t sign a professional contract with Manchester United until January 2018, when he turns 18.
