With Senegal preparing the World Cup like most countries who have qualified for the tournament, the latest international break was a good chance for players to impress.

While Watford’s Ismaïla Sarr remains an important part of their squad, he didn’t cover himself in glory in the game against Iran on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old, who has started the season in the Championship with the Hornets, never able to find himself the right move back to the Premier League over the summer, had ‘a match to forget’, according to wiwsport, who are very critical of his performance.

The website go through each Senegal players, giving them a rating, with the Watford star given a 4/10.

The regret is that he is a footballer ‘with so many qualities’, which means seeing him perform at that level makes it all the more difficult for the country’s fans.

Failing to capitalise on a bunch of opportunities, ‘his biggest flaw is and remains his finishing’, as he ‘misses almost everything’ when presented with chances in the final third.

The website tell him to ‘analyse his performance as quickly as possible’ so that he can ‘rectify himself to become more dangerous and better in certain situations, like when it comes to finishing’.

As we said above, this poor game shouldn’t cost him a place on the flight to Qatar, as he already has 47 caps to his name at his age, and remains an important part of the squad, but it might be the kick up the backside he needs.

Over at Watford, Sarr boasts two goals and an assist in his first six appearances of the season.
