It appears that, for some reason, AFC Bournemouth and AS Roma have found themselves intertwined in similar transfer rumours.
The two sides have even conducted business together, with the Cherries loaning Matias Viña from the Italian side until the end of the season for their left-back position.
Bournemouth also tried to sign Nicolo Zaniolo late in the transfer window, only for the Italian to first turn them down before changing his mind.
At that point, however, the Premier League side had moved onto other targets, and brought in Hamed Traoré from Sassuolo.
This left Roma with few options to get rid of Zaniolo, eventually sending him to Galatasaray permanently to get him far from José Mourinho’s squad.
Those aren’t the only two, though, as the pair were interested in Marcos Senesi simultaneously, with Bournemouth eventually managing to convince the Argentine that a move to the Vitality Stadium was best, much to the chagrin of a few in Italy.
David Rossi, for Rete Sport, was one of them, who gave his thoughts on the whole Bournemouth/Roma situation, and even offered a potential solution.
He said, relayed by Giallorossi: “The Zaniolo affair was resolved, thank God, we got off the hook. I liked Pinto, more direct, less constructed. There is this fil rouge with Bournemouth that makes me smile a bit. Roma were interested in Senesi, who then goes to Bournemouth, to whom Roma sell Viña.
“And then English club make an offer for Zaniolo, before falling back on Traore, who was the player identified by Roma to replace Zaniolo… In the last six months, Roma and Bournemouth have often crossed paths on the transfer market. Among other things, Senesi is doing very badly, he ended up on the bench. I liked him. Maybe now Pinto takes him with the money from Viña? It would be a masterpiece…”
