Cagliari are looking to move in on Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti this summer, according to reports in Italy. The 23-year-old looks set to leave the Serie B side, and has also been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has claimed Massimo Cellino’s former club are interested signing Avenatti on a free transfer in the next window, when his contract expires with Ternana. Cagliari were also linked with a move for his club teammate Cesar Falletti in recent weeks, but it now seems their main focus will be on Avenatti.

Pescara and Palermo have also been showing a recent interest in the Uruguayan forward, but with both clubs destined for relegation Cagliari should have an advantage over their fellow Serie A clubs.

Last month it was confirmed Avenatti would see out his contract with Ternana, which could lead to a scramble to sign the South American in the summer.

Leeds United could be one of those clubs looking to snap the player up on a free transfer after their previous attempts to sign him. Leeds United made another approach for Avenatti in the summer window, but again were unsuccessful.

Leeds United face competition to sign Avenatti, and it will take some convincing to bring the player to England over a move to Serie A.
