Everton’s Neal Maupay has been on loan at Marseille since last summer and played 1,171 minutes from 23 games, managing four goals and four assists in the process.
According to Jeunes Footeux, the Ligue 1 club have a mandatory purchase option of €4m, meaning Everton will receive that fee from his sale.
The report states the forward hasn’t fully convinced Roberto De Zerbi. Therefore, Marseille will make his loan stay permanent and then look to offload him in the summer window.
The French club have qualified for the Champions League and are looking to improve their attack with players of a higher calibre and better quality than the 28-year-old.
Maupay enjoys having support within the dressing room, but the report states his future will be far away from Marseille. Prior to joining Everton, he had spells in England at Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Jeunes Footeux state the Toffees owned player continues to attract interest from unnamed clubs from the Premier League and the Championship. His next destination could be in the top flight or the second division in England.
Over the past two seasons, Everton have sent him on loan while his relationship with their fans has deteriorated. Earlier this year, Maupay stated he likes trolling Everton supporters online, maybe he can do it next season from the Championship.
