Nottingham Forest are among the Premier League sides fighting to sign Sevilla’s Joaquín Oso this summer.

On July 14th, we relayed news of Nottingham Forest’s intention to finalise the left-back’s signing.

His contract expires in 2027, and the La Liga side are refusing to meet his salary demand. Therefore, Sevilla have made him available in the market for €15m.

Later that day, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of Olympiacos making a €6m bid.

Nottingham Forest owner leading pursuit 

Evangelos Marinakis owns the City Ground club and the Greek side and is leading their pursuit of Joaquín Oso.

That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who cover the latest on the 23-year-old.

After Sevilla rejected Olympiacos’ €6m offer, Marinakis has returned with an improved bid.

There’s no mention of any figures, and the new proposal is closer to the Andalusian club’s demand, which is around €15m.

With a new proposal, the parties are speeding up, and there’s optimism of reaching an agreement.

Oso has travelled with Sevilla to Poland for pre-season and is waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.

Sevilla line up replacement 

The La Liga side’s preference was to extend the Spaniard’s contract. However, that wasn’t possible because of the ‘significant differences’ between the parties. His impressive form last season has also attracted interest from several clubs.

Therefore, Sevilla have decided to cash in from his sale for a fee close to their valuation.

ABC Sevilla don’t mention the figure, but it’s not his €20m clause or the €6m fee proposed by Olympiacos. There’s much confusion about the amount of money which will be involved here.

On top of that, there’s a belief Nottingham Forest are playing a part here. Whether that means Oso will end up at Forest this summer is unclear.

Atlético Madrid left-back Julio Díaz is the main target to replace him. Sevilla have agreed terms with both and are waiting to formalise Oso’s sale to complete Díaz’s signing.
