Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is set to sign RCD Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo, a year after the Reds missed out.
The businessman also owns Olympiacos, who will soon welcome the right-back instead of Nottingham Forest.
Last summer, the Premier League side made multiple bids, and their last offer was around €6m. They also offered to triple his salary.
However, the move didn’t go through because Nottingham Forest failed to meet Mallorca’s €8m price.
Jagoba Arrasate, who was then their manager, backed him to put the disappointment aside. In September, the player also vowed to give his best to the club until the end, after a failed move to the City Ground.
The 28-year-old finished the season with the Spanish club, playing 2,691 minutes from 32 matches.
Mallorca have been relegated from La Liga after finishing 18th and Maffeo will be on the move this summer.

Monday’s edition of Diario de Mallorca, a newspaper local to the Spanish club, covers the latest on Pablo Maffeo’s move to Greece.
RCD Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells is trying to get as much money as possible for sale candidates.
This includes the fullback, who will join Olympiacos after Mallorca accepted their €3m bid, which is half of what Nottingham Forest offered in 2025. The operation, if there are no setbacks, should go through soon.
The relegation and Maffeo having a contract until 2027 force Martín Demichelis’ side to accept a lower fee of €3m.
Evangelos Marinakis has eventually been successful in signing the defender, but for the Greek club and not Vítor Pereira’s side. Whether that’s an effort to disguise the move, and Maffeo ultimately ends up at Forest, remains to be seen.
Mallorca will regret rejecting Nottingham Forest offer
Diario de Mallorca now state the Spanish club rejected Nottingham Forest’s €6m bid as it was short of their €10-12m valuation. Earlier claims stated the price was €8m.
Either way, the Reds never matched the asking price and Mallorca should now regret not selling Pablo Maffeo for €6m last year.
