With reports from the English media claiming that Fulham are interested in the signing of Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, we now get to see the Portuguese press backing it up.
Newspapers O Jogo and Record today both feature stories claiming the Whites want to sign the 27-year-old, whose contract with the Eagles expires at the end of the season.
Starting with O Jogo, it’s claimed that Fulham got the ‘green light’ from Marco Silva for the signing after the manager evaluated the arrival, which led to the club starting to work on it.
Even though there’s the competition from Italian and German clubs, it’s claimed that the Craven Cottage side may have some sort of advantage because Grimaldo is interested in moving to the Premier League.
Record, meanwhile, writes that Fulham ‘dream’ of signing the Spaniard.
They just warn the Whites that they will have to ‘make a big effort’ to find a deal with him, since he’s been making big salary requests to Benfica and should do the same with the clubs who want him.
The newspaper claims that Marco Silva sees in Grimaldo ‘the necessary experience’ to start in his team, as he seeks a new player for the left-back position after the failure that was the loan of Layvin Kurzawa.
