Marcel Brands, Nicest Man In Football™, is currently working all the hours available to make sure he doesn’t leave PSV in the lurch.
Rather than ride off towards the Merseyside sunset, Brands has been committed to getting transfers over the line for PSV before he officially starts his Everton job and is presented at Goodison Park.
De Telegraaf report he’s already done one, selling Joshua Brenet to Hoffenheim, and now it’s time for incomings. Brands wants two fullbacks and has identified Denzel Dumfries from SC Heerenveen and Manchester City owned Angelino.
He’ll start work at Everton on June 1st, and hopes to ‘complete a number of deals’ before then. There’s no dithering going on at PSV.
Brands is in direct talks with Manchester City, according to the Dutch newspaper, and the Premier League champions want €10m for their player, it’ll be interesting to see what he can get them down to because De Telegraaf call that amount ‘unspeakable’ for PSV.
The situation is interesting for Everton fans to watch, with Brands using all his experience and skill to try and get as much done as possible in a short amount of time.
It also shows how highly PSV think of the man, given they haven’t appointed someone else and given the task to them immediately.
