Marca choose to believe Manchester United paid €120m for Paul Pogba, which may be higher than other claims, but the potential inaccuracy doesn’t really impact upon on their Tuesday Antoine Griezmann story too much.
The Frenchman recently had his buyout clause raised from €80m to €100m as part of a contract renewal, but whereas once that would be a prohibitive figure, Marca feel it no longer is.
With Griezmann being the best player and top scorer of Euro 2016, Marca believe the €100m buyout clause is ‘cheap’.
Griezmann could leave Atletico for €100m, the ‘cheap’ amount, but right now he’s totally committed to the cause. Should that change, and a club be encouraged to move, then the €100m price may not be the barrier it was meant to be.
