Spanish newspaper Marca have followed up claims, started by The Sun, that Southampton are keen to buy Recio.
The Sun published a story on Thursday, saying Southampton would be prepared to pay €6m for the Malaga player.
Marca have spoken to people at the Spanish club, and found out that no offer from Southampton has yet been received.
However, in their Friday edition they also say that Recio has several ‘proposals on the table’ from English clubs, which would suggest teams are contacting him before going further with a potential deal.
For now, the 25 year old has decided to stay at his home town club. If bids are made, and the wages offer is high enough, things could change pretty quickly.
Recio is one of several Malaga players attracting interest, so if clubs are genuinely interested it may be worth moving quickly, in case other sales make a Recio move less likely.
