Last weekend, website TeamTalk brought an exclusive story saying Watford are keeping an eye on three Brazilian players. These guys would be Corinthians’ Gustavo, Flamengo’s Lincoln and Ituano’s Gabriel Martinelli.
Gustavo, now known among Corinthians fans as ‘Gustagol’, would be on top of the Hornets’ list.
With the story making some noise in Brazil, Corinthians-dedicated website Meu Timão went to look after the claims, and were told there have been no moves made by the Premier League site so far.
The club board claimed not to have received any official bid for the player, and Gustavo’s agent Clóvis Henrique has calmed things down as well.
“We have many approaches, but nothing official”, Clóvis Henrique told Meu Timão. “I’m sure that if something arrives, Andrés (Sanchez, Corinthians president) will contact us at the same time”.
Gustavo took club fans by surprise this season as people didn’t expect much from him after his loan spell at Fortaleza.
Now with seven goals in 11 games, he’s been decisive and is living a honeymoon with the club in these first couple of months of the season.
