With only formalities left before Harry Maguire completes his move to Manchester United, a large section of the English club’s fans would shift their focus to the possibility of the Red Devils signing Paulo Dybala and/or Bruno Fernandes.
Another possibility has emerged over the past few days… Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic.
Tuttosport reported on Friday that when two clubs were discussing the swap deal involving Dybala and Romelu Lukaku, the Croatian came up.
Several Italian newspapers have a short update about the 33-year-old in today’s edition.
Tuttosport state United have ‘shown interest’ in the ex-Bayern Munich man and the Old Trafford leaders are talking to the attacker’s agent over personal terms.
Tuttosport makes it clear that if Lukaku stays at United, then there would be no room for Mandzukic, who would cost around €10m.
Gazzetta dello Sport also echoes part of Tuttosport’s claims as they state United will be interested in Mandzukic, only if the Dybala-Lukaku swap deal goes through.
Over at Il Messaggero, they claim Juve have received United’s offer and talks are ongoing. One could expect more developments in the coming days.
Another Italian newspaper, Libero, states Mandzukic, who was destined for the Bundesliga, could end up at United for €10m.
It feels like they are reporting this based on what has been mentioned elsewhere.
