On Wednesday, El Mundo reported Manchester United are ‘preparing a €50m offer’ for Raphaël Varane, but the Real Madrid player has not made a decision on his future.
Even though he’s entered his final year of contract, it was suggested the defender could continue with the La Liga side next season.
Marca in Argentina also explain the Red Devils are ‘very interested’ in the 28-year-old, whose ‘future at Real Madrid is not certain’.
Before mentioning the France international, Marca state the Old Trafford club also have Cristian Romero on their agenda. United’s interest in the Serie A defender ‘was raised’ and even his future, at Atalanta, is far from certain.
Varane’s decision, either to continue at Real Madrid or leave them, could also have an impact on Jules Koundé’s future.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and Real Madrid have positioned themselves for the Sevilla star. United making an approach for him will depend on the outcome of their chase for Varane.
If Manchester United end up taking the World Cup winner, then Real Madrid could decide to sign his compatriot, and if not, the Manchester based club could consider either Koundé or Romero.
Sevilla, down at their end, are ‘calm’ and waiting to see how things develop with regards to their defender, who has a €80m release clause. There’s a belief he won’t leave the Spanish club for less than €60m and the figure could rise to €70m.
What’s certain, as per Estadio Deportivo, is that Sevilla’s incomings in the summer will depend on Koundé’s exit, and that’s because the ‘Financial Fair Play is very tight and there is hardly any room for manoeuvre’.
United have Varane, Koundé and Romero as three options for the summer, and a move for either of the latter two would depend if the English club accept defeat in signing the Real Madrid star.
