There was huge expectation among many Manchester United fans for their club to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho last summer.
Instead, the Red Devils ended up agreeing deals for Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, and these two signings have the English club’s supporters excited about the future.
The Uruguayan hasn’t featured for the senior team and had to settle for a place with the U23 side.
Diallo, on the other hand, made his first appearance for the Old Trafford club in their 4-0 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday. Coincidentally, Pellistri could also make his first league start in Europe against the same opposition this weekend.
Manchester United sent the 19-year-old out on loan to Alavés and he was left on the bench in the last two La Liga matches.
According to Naiz, the Spanish side will ‘use their weapons’ to make it difficult for Real Sociedad on Sunday, and part of their plan could be to hand Pellistri his ‘first minutes’.
Alavés manager Abelardo Fernández has also insisted the United owned youngster will soon make his first appearance for the club.
“Pellistri is getting better and better, he is humble and shows a lot of quality, he is a player with the ability to overflow. If it’s not this Sunday, he will have minutes very soon,” AS quoted Fernández as saying.
Manchester United fans were excited after getting to watch Diallo play for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on Thursday. They could be in for another treat tomorrow if Pellistri makes his first senior appearance in Europe when Alavés face Real Sociedad at Anoeta.
