It appears that no matter what happens to Facundo Pellistri at Manchester United, the young winger continues to have the faith of Uruguay’s Diego Alonso.

We say this because despite the fact the forward has played a grand total of 0 minutes for the Red Devils’ first-team this season, he has been selected by the national team manager for his early list ahead of the World Cup.

While that may not seem like much, it’s worth pointing out that the Manchester United player has also been called up in each of the last four international breaks in January, March, June and September of this year.

This suggests Alonso likes what Pellistri has to offer, and with the World Cup right around the corner, a call-up for the competition is now likely.

It does help that Pellistri tends to have an impact when called upon, with Uruguay winning six of the seven games he has played in to date.

Over at Manchester United, however, Erik ten Hag has yet to hand him his season debut, and while there is time for that still, it might come until after the World Cup, regardless of whether the 20-year-old heads to Qatar or not.
