Manchester United had scouts at Porto’s league clash against Casa Pia on Sunday, according to the Portuguese media.
Two newspapers talk about the Red Devils’ trip to the Estádio do Dragão. One of them is local outlet O Jogo, who says Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘usual’ visitors there.
A Bola also reports the scouting mission, highlighting that clubs have been ‘gathering information’ about players ahead of the summer transfer window.
The fact is, however, that none of the outlets actually say who Manchester United were watching, despite the Red Devils’ constant links with Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
The 23-year-old was praised for his performance in Porto’s 2-1 win. The reports compliment him for making three difficult saves and say he could do nothing about the own goal scored by Evanilson.
Diogo Costa continues to be well protected by a €75m release clause, and with Porto knowing he’s their most valuable player this summer, they’ll be tough in any negotiations for him.
In case Manchester United were open to seeing other talents, perhaps they may have been impressed with winger Galeno, who created many chances in the match. The Brazilian has 15 goals and six assists for Porto this season.
