Manchester United were credited with interest in OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo in the last window and continue to be named as an option for him in January.
Sport provide the latest on the former Barcelona man and mention the Red Devils when explaining how his sale will have a positive impact on the La Liga side’s finances.
The Spanish giants are ‘very aware’ of the 23-year-old’s future, and that Manchester United are one of the clubs in the picture to sign him.
It’s said Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘willing to pay a real fortune’ to secure the centre-back’s services.
The English club have been dealing with several injuries to defenders this season and in order to help Ten Hag solve the ‘serious defensive problems’, Sport state they are willing to spend millions on Todibo.
There’s no mention of the fee Manchester United could offer but the newspaper states his starting price is around €50m. They add Nice could ask more for the Frenchman, but that level feels a bit high.
Todibo joined the Ligue 1 side on loan from Barca in January 2021 and his stay there was made permanent later that year.
Sport state Barca are entitled to receive 20% of the fee from his future sale, and this is why they are excited about Manchester United’s interest in the defender.
Since the Catalan newspaper are desperate to see the La Liga side raise some money, it remains to be seen if Manchester United’s willingness to make a bid for Todibo is something they’re exaggerating because it helps Barcelona.
