At the end of April, reports from the Catalan media stated that Manchester United are ‘considering the possibility’ of making an offer for Ousmane Dembélé in the summer.

The winger has a year left on his contract with Barcelona and hasn’t signed an extension yet.

Didier Deschamps included Dembélé in France’s squad for Euro 2020 and he was forced to come off the pitch with an injury against Hungary.

On Monday, the La Liga side confirmed the 24-year-old went under the knife and will be out of action for the next four months.

Later that day, Journalist Xavi Campos told Catalunya Ràdio program Onze that the Red Devils ‘wanted’ the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer, before he suffered his latest injury setback.

Campos further adds the Old Trafford club’s interest in Ronaldo Koeman’s man wasn’t new and Manchester United were ‘willing to pay around €50m’ to sign the attacker this summer.

However, the situation has now changed with Dembélé’s injury, and no one at the Camp Nou can now be ‘optimistic’ of receiving an offer from another club in the coming weeks and months.

Campos’ claims may be hard to believe, when United have made good progress to sign Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main target, Jadon Sancho, although there’s the possibility the Barcelona player was a back-up option.

Sky Germany reported on Monday United and Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal for the England international’s transfer.
