With so many repeated claims in the rumour mill, it’s always interesting to see something new showing up, and today, we get to read about Manchester United’s chase for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The report comes from the Italian media, where website Roma Giallorossa has an exclusive story on some targets the Serie A club have for the January transfer window.

When claiming that Zakaria is one of the players who José Mourinho would like to sign, they can’t ignore that Roma would have the competition from both Manchester United and Manchester City, who are both ‘watching’ him.

Despite having more details on other targets, Roma Giallorossa don’t seem to know how much it would cost to sign the midfielder from Borussia Mönchengladbach in January, or the amount the Serie A side are willing to spend on him.

Zakaria, who’s been impressing in Bundesliga, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €27m.

With the defensive midfield role being one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s issues at Manchester United, that’s the kind of target that would make sense for the Red Devils to go after.

Since the 24-year-old’s contract with the German side expires at the end of the season, he could also wait until the next summer and move for free.
