Back at the weekend, reports from the Brazilian media claimed Grêmio were making an attempt to sign Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United.
It was said the Tricolor wanted the player on a loan deal, paying 60% of his wages for the year-long spell.
Now as journalist João Batista Filho shares an update on this situation, he claims Manchester United turned down Grêmio’s offer.
It’s written that the Red Devils are interested in loaning Pellistri out, but would rather do that with a European club, as they want him to gain experience there.
Manchester United’s idea is that if he does well, he could have another chance under Erik ten Hag. And if not, his sale could be negotiated with a European side.
According to João Batista Filho, Dutch side FC Twente showed interest in the signing, and have more chances of landing him than Grêmio.
Pellistri was signed by Manchester United in 2020 and only has ten appearances for the club so far. He spent the first two seasons on loan at Alavés, so all of his games for the Red Devils were played under Erik ten Hag.
