Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot is being targeted by Real Madrid, according to a report in the Spanish media.
Outlet AS today writes that manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking for a player in that position, and after missing out on João Cancelo, they are looking at the Red Devils’ right-back.
Real Madrid’s main advantage in this scenario is said to be Dalot’s contract situation with Manchester United.
His deal expires next year, and with no agreement for a renewal yet, the parties could find some pressure in the summer market.
According to AS, that situation could give the La Liga giants the chance to sign the fullback for less than his market value, which stands at €32m, or even wait for a free transfer at the end of his contract.
The story says Manchester United have been trying to renew his deal ‘for months at all costs’, and wouldn’t like to reach the summer without that issue already being solved.
Despite the frequent battles with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the position, Dalot has been Erik ten Hag’s favourite for that role, with 25 appearances for the club this season.
