It seems that Mason Greenwood’s future is a subject that Manchester United would like to sort out as soon as possible.
For the past week, reports in the Spanish media have been claiming that the forward is drawing attention from Barcelona, and that could require a quick response from the Red Devils.
The freshest story on this case is today brought by Marca. It’s now said that Manchester United officials have travelled to Getafe to sort the player’s future, and will meet his agents there.
It’s said that Barcelona ‘stand out’ among the interested sides, although there are ‘different teams’ who want him, from Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Getafe, who have him on loan, are still hopeful that he could stay for one more season, but would also benefit from a summer transfer, as they’d get a percentage from it.
It’s recalled that this week, Barcelona officials met Manchester United men to talk about Greenwood, and the Red Devils are asking for €50m for his sale.
Getafe can’t pay that much, and that’s why they’re nearly ruled out as a destination. The problem is that Barcelona and even Atletico Madrid now see that price as a ‘brake’ as well, so they may have to engage in longer negotiations with Manchester United to find a reasonable price.
This all feels like Manchester United officials travelling to Spain to try and get someone to pay €50m for Greenwood, or as close to it as possible.
