Manchester United could be an option for Dayot Upamecano this summer, if he ends up leaving Bayern Munich.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who name Manchester United as a potential destination if the Frenchman ends up departing Munich.
The newspaper explains that this summer could be a busy one for French players, with several high-profile names set to be major players in the transfer window.
Upamecano is one of them who could be set for a busy few months, with it explained there is every chance he will be tempted to leave Bayern Munich.
There is a feeling that the German giants are set for a major overhaul this summer and after three years in Bavaria, the 25-year-old could be tempted to start a new cycle elsewhere.
He has ‘real popularity’ in Europe and particularly in England, where Manchester United are known to be looking for a central defender.
They’ve long been linked with a move for the Frenchman, and he’s even admitted in the past that he would have liked to move to Old Trafford, so their interest is nothing new.
Bayern Munich could prove to be a problem as they’ve reportedly made it clear that Upamecano is a part of their plans and new manager Vincent Kompany is depending on him. They would prefer to sell Matthijs De Ligt and Kim Min-jae.
They need to convince Upamecano, though, who it seems is looking around and considering his options, and potentially seeing if Manchester United are keen once again.
