Manchester United youngster Sékou Koné will continue his development away from the Premier League side.

The 20-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Malian side Guidars FC in August 2024 and was part of their U21 side.

Later that year, Koné said he said he was optimistic about making it to Manchester United’s first team. However, he hasn’t appeared for them yet and the first six months of this year on loan at FC Lausanne-Sport.

Ineos became the minority owner of the Red Devils in December 2023 and are responsible for the sporting aspect of the club. The Manchester United co-owners also own Lausanne-Sport.

This made it easier for the two clubs to agree on a loan for him in February.  Koné only played 134 minutes from five matches as an injury cut forced him to miss the final two months of last season.

Swiss club Want Manchester United man back 

That hasn’t put off FC Lausanne-Sport from making another attempt to sign the defensive midfielder this summer.

Africa Foot claim the Swiss club are keen on retaining him and have already started concrete discussions with all parties for a new loan. The Ineos connection will certainly help the parties find a viable solution.

Lausanne-Sport are making good progress to sign the Manchester United man. The outlet states their leaders have offered €500k, likely as a loan fee, to Michael Carrick’s side.

OT exit in final stages

The negotiations between the Red Devils and FC Lausanne-Sport are in the final stages. The two clubs are now sorting out the last details.

Manchester United, once sorting this out, should make the Mali U23 international’s loan move to Switzerland official. This shouldn’t take long if there are no new twist in this case.
