Atalanta midfielder Ederson was left out of their starting XI for the clash with Fiorentina on Friday, as he closes on a €50m move to Manchester United.
Quotidiano Sportivo report on the midfielder today following reports yesterday that Manchester United are making their move for him.
Manchester United closing in
Sport Witness covered that report from journalist Michele Criscitiello stated that there was an agreement on all fronts for the Brazilian midfielder to move to Old Trafford this summer.
That followed weeks of reports insisting that Manchester United were ‘sprinting’ to get the 26-year-old as a replacement for Casemiro.
Quotidiano Sportivo now report that he was left out of the starting XI for the clash with Fiorentina. They wanted ‘to avoid any risk of injury’ that could ‘jeopardize a potential transfer.’
According to the newspaper’s information, negotiations with Manchester United are now entering a ‘decisive phase’.
The two sides could reach a preliminary agreement very soon for a €50m fee, plus €5m in future bonuses. The two parties are drawing closer, But the deal isn’t finalised yet.
The feeling is that Manchester United have beaten competition in England, and Spain, namely Atletico Madrid, who had seemed close to securing the midfielder in recent weeks.
“Not fielding Ederson was a mutual decision. There are ongoing developments related to the transfer market,” said Atalanta midfielder Raffaele Palladino on Friday.
“The fact that he is being tracked by such an important club should be a source of pride.”
Manchester United relationship
That was seen as confirmation that Manchester United are closing in on their man. His absence from the starting XI as a precaution is further proof of that.
Quotidiano Sportivo point out that the two clubs have a good relationship. Manchester United have already bought Amad Diallo and Rasmus Højlund from the Italian side in recent years.
Now it appears that Ederson will make it three, with Atalanta not taking any risks to ensure the deal goes through.
