Manchester United target Rafael Leão has deleted his social media after getting grief from fans at AC Milan.
O Jogo report on the winger today as he considers taking his career in a different direction next season.
Fan criticism
The newspaper explains that Rafael Leão has only managed one goal and one assist in the last seven games and has been booed by his own fans.
That’s pushing the scenario of him leaving this summer. The criticism and grief has even gotten to such an extent that the 26-year-old has decided to deactivate his Instagram.
That decision came following a flood of critical comments regarding his performance in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Juventus. The winger is in a barren period and is being frequently booed by his own fans.
This is strengthening the arguments for him to leave a the end of the season. Reports have consistently linked him to several football giants.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been credited with an interest. Sport Witness covered a report today that Jorge Mendes could take the winger to Old Trafford this summer. Manchester United had reportedly initiated contact about a move.
Transfer looks likely
Milan, for their part, would be willing to do a deal for around €50-70m, with a different figure in each report. Whether Manchester United or any of the other English clubs would pay such an amount is unclear.
But all signs are that Rafael Leão is pointing towards an exit. He’s facing constant criticism from Milan’s fanbase, who are unimpressed with his current run of performances.
Indeed, the criticism has reached such a point that the forward has now moved to delete his social media. That is never a good sign, particularly with transfer rumours swirling.
Manchester United certainly have an opportunity in front of them and Leão appears to be preparing the ground work.
