Since Manchester United are now fully focusing on Real Madrid’s Casemiro to bolster their midfield, it’s clear that the talks with Adrien Rabiot are over.
It was never officially mentioned, but Gazzetta dello Sport make a point of clarifying what happened on Friday.
They start off by stating ‘the negotiation between Rabiot and Manchester United has definitely closed’ despite a desire from the player to leave Juventus this summer.
The problem was the Red Devils’ timing, who ‘only came forward in late August’, and what happened once everything began.
Gazzetta explain that ‘negotiations with the British have been polluted by rumours and speculations on the alleged wage needs’, which was ‘little appreciated by the player’s clan’, who officially state they ‘did not go beyond the analysis of the initial offer’.
Furthermore, ‘it would become a risk to change teams just three months before the World Cup’, meaning the midfielder now wants to fully focus on Juventus, where he wants to impress Max Allegri and return into the team to earn himself a spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the tournament in Qatar.
While this means Manchester United have moved on to Casemiro, to the great delight of most of the Old Trafford faithful, it also blocks any potential deal Juventus had in mind for Leandro Paredes.
Then again, that isn’t United’s problem at this moment in time.
