With it known that Manchester United would like a new centre back in the summer, the name Jules Koundé is one you’re sure to see a lot between now and the end of the season.

The French centre-back has emerged as one of the hottest young players in Europe over the last two seasons, with a series of impressive performances for Sevilla earning him plenty of attention.

He was already the subject of interest from Manchester City last summer and, after another strong season, will have more clubs chasing his signature this year.

Manchester United are thought to be one of them, and last month we covered reports from Spain that stated they are willing to offer as much as €70m to get him.

Indeed, Sevilla are believed to be readying themselves for such an approach to happen at some point.

There’s been little mention of the player since, but ABC Sevilla provide a little one today, stating that ‘prestigious clubs such as Manchester United are still pining for’ the Frenchman.

That is quite literally all they have to say on the matter, with this information coming in a piece on Koundé being rested by the Spanish club, who are keen to ‘look after’ the defender.

It seems, though, Manchester United’s interest is still there despite the lack of recent reports with the player one they very much want if they are ‘pining’ to add him to their squad this summer.
