Manchester United are still in the ‘front row’ to sign Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan this summer, with him set to be sold by the Italian side.

That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by FC Inter News, who say the Dutchman is up for sale as his contract renewal demands are too high.

A report earlier this month indicated Manchester United were leading the race for Dumfries, who is something of an old target after being heavily linked with a move when Erik ten Hag first arrived as manager.

The newspaper explains that Dumfries is set to be on the exit list for Inter Milan this summer and is the only current first-teamer on that list.

That’s because he is asking for €5m a year to renew his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2025. That figure is too high for the Italian side’s liking and so he will be shipped out.

He’s currently valued at €40m and Manchester United value him highly. Indeed, they are said to be in ‘in the front row’ waiting to move for him.

That figure could be set to rise, though, as Dumfries is likely to be part of the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 and if he has a good tournament for Ronald Koeman’s side, Inter could increase his price tag to €50-55m.
