Having signed Wout Weghorst from Burnley on loan for the rest of the season, Manchester United brought in a striker to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, it’s clear to everyone that the Dutch striker is not the long-term solution for Erik ten Hag, who will be wanting a more prolific goalscorer leading his line at Old Trafford for the next few years.
Who that is remains to be seen, but Manchester United have been linked with a number of names, including a couple in Serie A in Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen.
The latter was reportedly already a target for the Red Devils last summer, while the Serbian was off limits as he had only signed for Juventus six months prior.
Things have changed since, though, as the Turin club are struggling both on and off the pitch, and Vlahovic could be a solution to make up for a lack of Champions League money if they fail to qualify this season.
Considering the fee Juventus paid and his status in world football, only a select few will be able to buy him come the summer, among which are expected to be Manchester United.
That’s according to Niccolò Ceccarini, who, relayed by Juve News, said: “A hot summer also seems to be on the horizon for forwards. One of them is definitely Vlahovic. The Premier League is now traveling in another great and is potentially able to present very high offers, and Italy remains of the favourite destinations.
“Arsenal had already tried to sign him before the transfer to Juventus. The idea remained and at the end of the season, a new attempt is very likely. In England, however, they are not the only one. Manchester United has also started to move. Overall, the situation is evolving.”
