It’s back! Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week took the summer off, but with the return of football around Europe, it was time to come back.
The grand old Italian newspaper pick a team of players from outside Serie A and cover a very wide range of football leagues. There’s frequently several Premier League players who get the nod, and this week is no different.
Gazzetta have picked Manchester United new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic to lead their front line, giving him 8 out of 10, a high mark for the Italian newspaper. Ibrahimovic finds himself flanked by former Liverpool favourite Luis Suarez, and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, long linked with Arsenal.
Ibrahimovic scored both Manchester United’s goals in a 2-0 Old Trafford victory over Southampton, and his start to life at the club has gone very well indeed.
