Manchester United made sure it was they who signed striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, with a ‘huge offer’ that secured him ahead of potential suitors.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the player had been looked at by Napoli as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen.
They explain that Hojlund, who is the ‘man of the moment’ at Manchester United after shining in the defeat to Galatasaray this week with a brace of goals, could have ended up elsewhere this summer.
He ended up staying in Naples and Manchester United quickly swooped to get Hojlund from Atalanta, making a ‘huge offer’ to ensure he went to Old Trafford.
They initially offered €45m for him at the beginning of June and by the end of August that had risen to €47m, which had again been rejected.
Atalanta were demanding a €100m and Manchester United eventually made an offer of €75m plus bonuses, looking to avoid a potential auction with Paris Saint Germain.
That eventually got them their man and now everyone is ‘crazy’ for the striker, who after arriving injured, is quickly proving to be worthy of the outlay.
