Manchester United are one of several clubs eyeing up Boca Juniors youngster Mateo Retegui as he continues to make a name for himself in Argentina.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the player’s performances on loan at Tigre this season have not gone unnoticed in Europe.
The 23-year-old has managed 23 goals in all competitions and ‘many European teams’ are watching him with closely. Manchester United are one of them, but there are as many as 15 clubs on the list, including PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
They are all showing a ‘strong interest’ in the striker, something which has been noted by Tigre, who could secure a ‘very nice financial operation’.
They have an option to sign 50% of the player’s rights for €2.5m despite the fact he is currently valued at more than €20m.
That means they could activate that clause and make an immediate and big profit on the player in the summer if the likes of Manchester United were to make that move.
It remains to be seen if they will, but Retegui has been making waves and he is seen as a ‘powerful player’ who is ‘rather skilful’ and ‘good in front of goal’ especially in terms of his heading ability.
Indeed he is seen as a profile of player that PSG lack, hence why Luis Campos is keeping a close eye on him and ready to rival United and others for his signature if need be.
