Geovany Quenda continues to underline his status as a rising star at Sporting CP.
Against Famalicao at the weekend, the 17-year-old started for the club and scored for the very first time in the league. Manchester United saw him impress in that game.
A Bola report that the Red Devils had scouts present at the Estádio Municipal de Famalicão and had their eyes specifically on the teenager.
It has been previously reported that United have already initiated contact for the winger, with A Bola stating today that the Old Trafford club’s interest in Quenda is ‘real’.
They have already sounded out the possibility of signing the player at some point in the future. Due to his age, Quenda could only move to United when he turns 18 in April, but a deal could be agreed in advance of the summer window.
He has a release clause of €100m in his current deal, and the feeling is that the winger could be Sporting’s next big sale. The Reds are seen as a viable destination because of the good relationship they have had with the Portuguese giants in recent years.
This seems to be a move that isn’t associated with Erik ten Hag at all and it is something that the club are progressing with. So even if the Dutchman doesn’t stay as the manager, the 17-year-old would still be a target.
The report seems sure that Quenda impressed the Red Devils’ scouts, as he continues to consolidate his place in the Sporting first team.
