Manchester United have made a written, formal offer for defender Leny Yoro worth €50m plus bonuses, which has been accepted by Lille.
That’s according to journalist Nabil Djellit, who reports that the Manchester United offer is ‘superior’ to Real Madrid’s proposal for the highly rated youngster.
Yoro is one of the rising stars of European football after breaking through at Lille and being likened to Raphael Varane.
He has admirers across Europe, including Manchester United, who have been credited with an interest in him for the best part of a year.
Reports over the last few weeks have been insisting that those in charge at Old Trafford were ready to step up that interest into something more concrete to try and beat the competition, namely Real Madrid, to his signature.
Lille are open to a deal this summer as the player is in the final year of his contract and this is the last window in which they can make a significant profit on him before potentially losing him for nothing next summer.
It seems Manchester United have now tested that, sending a written offer worth €50m plus bonuses for the player according to Djellit.
This has been accepted by Lille as it is ‘superior’ to what has been offered by Real Madrid, who are ‘far from having finalised the deal’ for the defender at this point.
That does not mean Yoro is heading to Old Trafford, though, as his priority is to sign for Real Madrid.
Manchester United are pushing despite that and with a bid now accepted, their attention presumably turns to convincing the player to make the move this summer.
