Manchester United have been scouting RB Salzburg youngster Kerim Alajbegovic ‘intensively’. Signing him will be problematic, though.

That’s according to SportBILD, who report that Bayer Leverkusen intend to beat any sides to the 18-year-old’s signature.

The newspaper cover the youngster today, and how he’s firmly in Leverkusen’s plans for future dominance. They explain that, during the next international break, the German side plan to turn their focus to future signings.

The first multi-million Euro signing is almost a done deal. according to their information, the plan is to buy Alajbegovic from Salzburg. He moved to the Austrian side from Leverkusen’s youth academy last summer for €2m.

They secured a buy-back option for 2026 and 2027, though. That’s valued at €5-6m next summer, and lower in 2027. They’re happy to pay it due to the player’s ‘extraordinary development’.

He’s considered the best player in the Austrian league and top clubs are already scouting him. Manchester United are one of those who are ‘scouting him intensively’. They have no chance of signing him, though.

Leverkusen are aware of Manchester United’s interest and plan to move ahead of them. They’re determined to ensure Alajbegovic is theirs, even if it means loaning him out somewhere next season first.
