Wednesday’s edition of Marca had two big Manchester United stories on the front page.

The first was a claim which had rolled over from Tuesday, of the Red Devils being interested in Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. As the club’s transfer window edges towards 2am in a nightclub stage, it’s hard to tell if the claims are being pulled from thin air, encouraged by opportunistic agents, or reflect the truth of the club becoming increasingly desperate.

Marca’s other claim was related to interest in Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, and it was explained Manchester United had sent emissaries to the Spanish city to see what deals could be done.

Now, AS have their own twist on the Portugal international and they say Erik ten Hag’s club have made a €130m offer for the attacker.

Atletico are said to be uninterested in a sale and have referred to the 22-year-old’s €350m buyout clause. Joao Felix himself is happy in Madrid and not looking at an exit.

The veracity of this is all in the eye of the beholder and there’s likely to be further claims related to Manchester United until the club can get their act together and pull some signings through the door.
