Thursday’s edition of A Bola has an article on the future of Sporting CP’s Gonçalo Inácio, with Manchester United again named as a potential destination.

It’s explained that Borussia Dortmund were keen during the January transfer window, but the Bundesliga club never really got close to agreeing a deal with Sporting.

Manchester United is the only Premier League club name-checked for Inácio and the purpose of the article appears to be to get it out there that Sporting want €45m.

The 23-year-old central defender made his breakthrough in Lisbon under a certain Ruben Amorim, something which is encouraging the Red Devils links. Manchester United are said to have been watching Inácio closely for a long time and are said to have repeatedly been ‘on the verge’ of turning that interest into a transfer swoop and effort to sign him.

A Bola also make a pointing of explaining Inácio is represented by Miguel Pinho, who is Bruno Fernandes’ agent.

The Portuguese newspaper states Sporting will sell one or both of Gonçalo Inácio and/or Ousmane Diomande in the summer, and they appear to want to let people know the cost for the former is €45m.

Manchester United may well have some interest. They watch Sporting on a regular basis, the Amorim link is a fair one to make, and it would not be a surprise if Pinho has recommended his client, however, there’s no real indication they’ve made the defender a concrete option at this point.
