The Italian press are once again writing about Manchester United’s interest in Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
Outlet TuttoJuve comes up to say the Red Devils ‘remain interested’ in the player and are ‘ready to invest’ €50m on his signing.
It’s said Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag had already wanted to reinforce his attack in January, and with that not happening, Zirkzee remains as an option this summer for the Dutch manager.
The report claims the 22-year-old has a ‘similar playing style’ to Rasmus Højliund and could, therefore, be a good partnership for him, or used as a great rotation option for the Dane.
Still, it’s claimed that Zirkzee is no longer the man at the top of Manchester United’s list of targets right now, but he’s considered an ‘important alternative’ in case other names aren’t attainable.
The striker has ten goals and six assists in 27 appearances for Bologna this season. Those are not exactly impressive numbers, especially when it’s said the Red Devils would like to spend €50m on his signing for a position they already have someone with better numbers.
Therefore, we’ll see whether this attempt will actually take place, but, for now, we would take it all with a pinch of salt, as the Italian media appear to be on a hyping spree as Bologna continue to impress.
