Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is ‘on the verge’ of joining Manchester United, with a deal now in place and there to be completed.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that there is an agreement in principle between Manchester United and Bologna for the Dutch striker.
He reports that Manchester United are set to pay €40m for Zirkzee, with the two sides reaching an agreement during talks last night.
The last details on the payment terms are yet to be clarified and nothing has been signed as yet, nor has a medical been booked for the player yet either.
But there is an agreement in place between the two sides for the striker, who has a contract until 2029, with the option of a further year, waiting to be signed also.
Plettenberg reports that Zirkzee was high on Manchester United’s list of options for weeks and they’ve now pushed ahead with their efforts and found an agreement with Bologna.
He’s set to be a new Manchester United player soon, with the Netherlands’ exit from Euro 2024 to England on Wednesday perhaps working in United’s favour too.
That’s freed up the player to at least undergo a medical, which will presumably be booked sooner rather than later now United have reached an agreement in principle with Bologna.
