Manchester United have put an ‘above market’ offer on the table for Lille youngster Lenny Yoro as they look to beat Real Madrid to his signature.
That’s according to Marca, who say Manchester United have entered the battle for the highly rated defender ‘with a lot of economic power’.
According to them, United have put an offer on the table for the defender that is ‘above market’ value at this moment in time.
They explain that while Real Madrid have been clear for some time that they want to sign the centre-back they have already told the player and his agent that they will have to wait and resist the temptation of accepting a higher offer from someone else.
They’ve been in constant contact with Yoro and his representatives, and he has always made it clear he wants to move to the Spanish giants, but they’re yet to move.
In the meantime, Manchester United have made their move, making a bid to try and tempt Lille into a sale. The exact nature of that isn’t made clear but is ‘close to €60m’. They have also made it clear they are willing to accept some of the demands Lille have set out.
So far, the French side are resisting but how far they can continue to do so is up for debate, particularly with Real Madrid refusing to be tempted into a bid as yet.
Manchester United have made an ‘above market’ offer to perhaps try and force the matter, looking to push their way in while Madrid hold off.
Whether this is Marca adding drama for a Real Madrid audience, and using Manchester United in the process, remains to be seen.
