The Uruguayan media today shares some updates on Manchester United’s chase for Paris Saint Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
ESPN Uruguay first shows up with the optimistic claims, saying that the player is actually ‘close’ to a move to the Red Devils.
It’s said that Ugarte no longer has a place at PSG, where Luis Enrique said he doesn’t count on him, and he wasn’t feeling fine at the club anyway.
According to the report, the French side are demanding ‘part’ of the €60m they invested on his arrival, and Manchester United are thought to be willing to pay up.
That makes the Red Devils ‘most probably’ Ugarte’s destination, even though Atlético Madrid are also said to be pushing for the move, with Diego Simeone having spoken to them. The likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are said to be interested too
When covering the report, French outlet FootMercato claims that PSG have not asked the player to leave the club. However, they do confirm that Ugarte is set to look after other options after the Copa América.
They too share the €60m figure, but make it sound like PSG want all of that… which would obviously be too high.
