On Monday, Corriere dello Sport reported that Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee is keen to join AS Roma in January.

The player is attracted by playing for Gian Piero Gasperini. Roma’s manager has a good record of working with young forwards.

Zirkzee has started just once for Manchester United this season. With the World Cup coming up, the striker is keen on more game time.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport reiterates the 24-year-old wants to play under Gasperini. The Italian tried to sign him at Atalanta and the player believes the manager can help him seal a World Cup spot next year.

The Giallorossi’s plan is to initially reach an agreement with the player and then negotiate with his club.

Manchester United’s demands to let Zirkzee leave have seen mixed reporting in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport now report the Red Devils want a dry loan deal. This idea isn’t popular at Roma, who are keen on an initial loan with an option to buy him permanently. They are also interested in adding an optional obligation which can be triggered in case of Champions League qualification.

Manchester United’s demand for a dry loan would have been accepted in the summer. However, now the Italian side have changed their recruitment strategy and do not want to develop players for other clubs.

Previous reports have stated Manchester United want a full obligation in any loan. Therefore, this is a new slant from the Italian media.
