Porto striker Medhi Taremi is on Manchester United’s list of potential options this summer as manager Erik ten Hag ‘appreciates the qualities’ of the striker.
That’s according to A Bola, who say the player, who is available for €20m, is being eyed by United as a low-cost solution to their need for a new striker.
The newspaper reports that Taremi ‘has been followed for some time’ by those in charge at Old Trafford and Ten Hag is also a fan of his.
Manchester United are on the hunt for a striker but may have to look at low-cost options as they look to finalise deals for the likes of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.
That’s seen them show ‘particular attention’ to Taremi, who only has a year left on his contract with Porto and is available for €20m as a result.
He has 80 goals and 49 assists in 147 games for the Portuguese club, since joining them from Rio Ave in a €4.73m deal in August 2020, and that has not gone unnoticed.
The striker has already turned down offers from Everton and Al Hilal this summer, insisting he wants to remain at Porto or, at the very least, competing at the highest level in Europe.
Manchester United can certainly offer that with Premier League and Champions League football at the club next season, but the real question is whether they are willing to pay €20m for a player who turns 31 later this month.
On the face of it, it seems unlikely but if funds are tight and Ten Hag is determined to sign any striker he can, Taremi may end up being the best option available.
