Manchester United are ‘playing poker’ with Jadon Sancho’s proposed return to Borussia Dortmund, not including a purchase option in the hope of selling him for more in the summer.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the impending move today and the ‘interesting contract detail’ included in it.
The newspaper cover Sancho’s impending return to Dortmund today, with reports throughout this week indicating the German side are progressing quickly on a deal to bring their former star back to the club.
BILD back that up and say they have ‘made the breakthrough’ in negotiations with Manchester United, although there are conflicting reports about whether the deal includes a purchase option.
They say that, according to their information, BVB have no option to buy Sancho because this was ‘particularly important’ to United.
They’re instead ‘playing poker’ with the player, hoping to send him back to Dortmund so he can quickly find his way back to his old form and polish up his plummeting market value.
The hope is that they can then move in the summer and potentially sell Sancho to another club, ‘without too much loss’ on the books.
It is because of this they are willing to pay a large part of Sancho’s salary for the next six months and sanction a deal that will see Dortmund pay around €3m between salary and loan fees.
All that is left is for the deal to be wrapped up and Sancho head back to Germany to get the first part of Manchester United’s plan underway.
